Before you compare subscription tiers, think about what kind of companion you want. Nomi publishes 50 free messages per day and gives you backstories, shared notes and Mind Maps, so editable background sits close to the centre of an ongoing fictional conversation. Its paid Standard offer supports up to 10 companions, which also suits someone who wants several distinct story characters.

Character.AI offers free unlimited messages, live voice calls and 15 free memory pins. It fits a comparison built around varied community characters, though its October 2026 announcement of a court-supervised sale makes future access less certain. Weigh that business situation alongside the features before you commit to a long subscription.

Janitor AI's Canadian iOS listing names JanitorAI INC as the publisher and prices Janitor+ at CA$17.99 monthly or CA$129 yearly. Its custom and community characters give another point of comparison if you would rather browse a catalogue than keep Replika's single persistent avatar. Canadian store entries and the tier they describe

The Canadian App Store shows several subscription entries instead of one universal Pro price. The labels MONTHLY and Monthly show CA$10.49 and CA$18.99. Annual entries include CA$99.99 and CA$62.99, and YEARLY appears at CA$66.99. These generic labels tell you the period but not which current tier or eligibility condition each entry belongs to.

Annual ULTRA is more specific: it names both the tier and the annual term, at CA$114.99. Replika Platinum appears at CA$123.99 with no interval printed, so don't convert that amount into a monthly or yearly figure. The purchase screen you select shows the actual period, features and renewal amount, and the payment summary there is where to check provincial tax.

According to the official help, there is no free trial for paid plans. Free chat lets you get used to the avatar format, but it does not give temporary access to every premium feature. Compare the features you actually plan to use before you accept a recurring charge. One person might consider Pro worth it for voice calls, while another is happy with free conversation and no extra activities.

A subscription bought through a store is managed through that store. Keep the receipt, plan name and original platform together. You will need them to cancel or to query a billing error, especially if the account shows several similar-looking store entries. Don't rely on a price another subscriber quotes until you have checked its country, date, tier and term.

The most useful purchase record shows the plan name, billing interval and renewal amount in one place. The CA$123.99 Platinum listing, for example, doesn't tell you whether future charges are monthly or annual, while Annual ULTRA states its term. Avatar, voice and memory are different features

Replika starts with a 3D avatar. Setup includes choosing the avatar's gender, and basic chat and customization are free. A consistent visual identity can appeal to someone who likes a familiar interface and an ongoing invented character. Still, a stable appearance and a fluent reply do different jobs: the avatar is presentation, and the dialogue is generated conversation.

Pro's documented features include activities, relationship-status choices, image generation, voice messages, calls and daily gems. A relationship label shapes how the interaction is framed, and a call changes how you talk to the app. Pick these features for the format you like. A paid status label does not make the character a person, and it says nothing about how well it will understand a particular situation.

Ultra includes everything in Pro and adds self-reflection tools, conversation improvements the provider claims, and the ability to save messages to memory. You can view or remove saved memories by going to the home screen, tapping the Replika's name and opening Memory. That lets you correct or delete individual stored details without deleting the whole account. Removing a memory is not the same as erasing the conversation history.

Platinum lists video recognition, 100 Training Mode uses per week and 50 Read Mind uses per week. It also includes 10 selfie videos, with no renewal period stated for that allowance. The feature names describe activities inside the service. They are not evidence that the avatar can literally read thoughts, give a professional assessment or remember every detail of a long exchange.

The iOS interface is available in English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. A French interface can make settings easier for a Canadian reader who prefers French, but it does not on its own guarantee the quality of every conversation in that language. Choose the language for ease of use, and judge the generated dialogue separately from the menu translation.

The Annual ULTRA Canadian store entry at CA$114.99 is one case where a named feature package is tied to a term. Be specific about what you're buying: a plan with memory tools and a plan with weekly activities meet different needs. If voice is what you want, look at the documented call feature. If you want to keep a fictional story going, look at how saved facts are managed. That comparison tells you more than counting premium labels.

Memory editing, history removal and retention

Luka, Inc. runs Replika from the United States. Its privacy policy sets out several categories of retained data. Profile information, messages, content and preferences may be kept for up to 60 days after the contract ends. Some financial and device records are kept for at least 10 years for legal reasons. Analytics are removed or de-identified after 1 year. One delete button does not cover the full lifecycle of every record.

Saved memory items and chat history are controlled separately. You can remove individual saved facts from Memory, but clearing the whole conversation history requires deleting the account. If you want to clear conversations from time to time while keeping an established avatar, factor in that limitation before the account becomes a large personal record. Keeping your character outline somewhere else also gives you more control over your own creative material.

In the app, account deletion goes through Settings, Account Settings and Delete Replika, then asks for a reason and your password before the final deletion control. The web account has its own Delete My Account option under Account Settings. Save receipts and any proof of cancellation before you remove an account, because billing still has to be cancelled through the original purchase channel.

The policy says third-party AI processors are contractually barred from training their own models on these conversations. That restriction applies to those processors only. It is not a statement about every internal use of data by Luka. Base what you share on the actual policy terms, and leave sensitive work, family or financial details out of a fictional persona.

For ordinary companionship, a character can have invented interests, a fictional setting and a consistent voice without drawing on your confidential circumstances. The more familiar the avatar feels, the more that boundary is worth keeping. A reassuring reply doesn't change who operates the service or which retention terms apply to the account.

Adult eligibility and a fictional profile

Replika's current privacy policy and App Store listing require users to be 18+. That eligibility rule has nothing to do with the details you give an invented character. Keep the information the account requires accurate, and let the avatar's background stay fictional. The character doesn't need to mirror your own relationships or history for ordinary conversation to work.

Age requirements are also separate from subscription choices. An adult account can use free chat and avatar customization, and the named paid tiers add different features. The Canadian Annual ULTRA price of CA$114.99 belongs to one paid listing and has no bearing on how eligibility is established. Treat the account's current requirements and the chosen payment terms as two separate decisions.

Judge the current account requirements on their own terms. Past regulatory findings describe issues from a specific period and do not show the exact verification screens every Canadian subscriber sees today. For a new account, follow the eligibility process the service presents, and make sure the fictional character is clearly an adult.

Stop billing through the original payment channel

Replika subscriptions renew automatically. The published route in the account is Settings, Subscription and Cancel subscription, with confirmation through the platform that bills you. Store purchases are managed in that store's subscription settings. For a PayPal subscription, the help says to manage Replika under PayPal's automatic-payment settings. Use the channel shown on the actual receipt, not whichever device you happen to be using now.

Deleting the app or the Replika account does not cancel the subscription. If you decide the service isn't useful anymore, cancel the recurring payment explicitly, keep the confirmation, and then decide separately what to do with the account and its data. Check the subscription status to see whether access continues and billing will recur. Whether the avatar screen still opens tells you nothing about that.

The refund help says sales are final once digital access begins. Store refunds go through the relevant Apple or Google process, and support handles billing errors. Keep a clear record of the transaction in case a question comes up. An Annual ULTRA entry at CA$114.99 is a specific store offer, while a generic Annual label could be a different item. The receipt settles which one you bought.

If you also delete the account, save any creative notes you want to keep and know which record categories the policy describes. Chat data may stay for up to 60 days after the contract, and some financial records have a much longer legal retention period. Ending a subscription, deleting an account and erasing all legally retained records are three different outcomes, each with its own rules.

Issues to weigh without turning them into a score

On April 10, 2025, Italy's data-protection authority fined Luka €5 million over past failures on legal basis, transparency and age verification, and announced a separate inquiry into training. The authority noted that an appeal had been filed. This regulatory action is dated. It does not mean Replika is banned in Canada, and it does not describe every current account screen.

On October 28, 2026, the Canadian App Store snapshot showed 4.2 stars from roughly 14K ratings. That figure is a store aggregate at one point in time, not an editorial judgment of conversation quality, privacy or value. Read individual reviews with their plan, date and device in mind. A star average can't answer the questions the subscription and retention terms raise.

The main purchase risk is mixing up entries with similar labels. CA$10.49 and CA$18.99 both carry monthly labels, and the Platinum amount has no printed term. Who is likely to value the avatar format

Replika is worth comparing if you are an adult who wants a familiar avatar, ordinary conversation and optional voice interaction. Free chat lets you start before deciding whether Pro's activities or Ultra's memory tools matter to you. If what appeals is an ongoing fictional profile, focus on whether the format feels comfortable. A higher tier is not a measure of a closer relationship.

It is less convenient if you want to clear all conversation history and keep the same account, since removing the full history means deleting the account. Anyone looking for one clear Canadian Pro price also has to check the actual offer screen, because the store list is generic. Think about where the account fits in your day. A short fictional exchange can stay a small, optional activity that doesn't use every feature of a paid tier. If the avatar format is the main draw, free chat and customization already cover it. If an activity such as Platinum's 100 weekly Training Mode uses matters to you, look at that feature on its own, apart from the character's reassuring style. A subscription should support a routine you already intend to have, not give you a reason to spend more time in the app.
