18+ only. This review covers ordinary use with fictional adult characters. Start with how free text works. The general allowance is 20 sent messages per day, and it resets 24 hours after your first message. Custom-character conversations have a second cap of 100 messages in total, on top of the daily limit. That total does not renew each day.
Paid plans add a separate resource called Moments. Premium grants 8,000 Moments a month and normally costs US$19.99 monthly or US$109.99 for a year. Audio calls use 50 Moments per minute, and other actions have their own rates. Unlimited paid text does not make voice or media unlimited.
Secrets suits people who want to track these activities separately instead of treating the subscription as one bundle. It also documents how to cancel and names its bank descriptor, S LABS INC. Check the renewal amount and the payment term you selected before you commit, because a first-period offer can renew at a different price.
Scores by criterion
Full data. Scores are computed from each app's published terms, pricing, policies and store listings on the dates shown. We have not yet run paid test accounts; when we do, experience criteria will be added and the cap on the total score removed. Affiliate links never change a score. A score marked Full data rests on all eight criteria. Provisional means five to seven criteria could be scored from published facts. Limited data means only three or four criteria could be scored; such totals are capped at 3.5 and should be read as a floor, not a verdict. Apps with fewer than three scorable criteria get no total. Totals are weighted means of the scored criteria only and move when missing facts get documented. Full methodology

Regular subscription terms and separate activity costs
Premium normally costs US$19.99 a month or US$109.99 a year, and the annual plan is shown as a US$9.17 monthly equivalent. The annual amount is what you pay for the full term. The equivalent just spreads that total over twelve months for comparison; you are not debited monthly. Premium includes 8,000 Moments per month plus unlimited text.
Ultimate costs US$39.99 a month or US$319.99 a year and grants 15,000 Moments monthly. The Moments allocation and the cash price are two different things, so weigh both when deciding whether the larger tier is worth it. Compare the amount and term your account is actually offered against what you expect to use.
Monthly grants reset. Purchased top-ups do not expire, and you can only buy them with a paid membership. If your usage varies from month to month, this matters: the recurring grant and a purchased balance last for different lengths of time. Look at your remaining balance before buying a top-up instead of assuming everything carries over.
Audio calls use 50 Moments per minute. Text-to-speech uses 10 Moments per 100 characters, rounded up, and enhanced text or audio tags are included in the count. A minute of live audio and a short spoken version of some text are priced in different units, so budget for them separately.
Image and video settings change the cost too. A Premium or specified Advanced image costs 50 Moments, and an Advanced 2K image costs 100. The updated Basic video entry is 600 Moments for eight seconds without audio. Earlier checks listed other video modes separately, so don't apply the Basic rate to all of them; there is no single video rate. If text is your main reason for the account, you can skip media entirely.
If you are buying from Canada, confirm the currency, full term, renewal amount and GST/HST treatment on the payment screen. The published US-dollar prices have not been verified as Canadian tax-inclusive totals. Check the Canadian card charge and any extra Moments purchases in the channel where you actually approve them.

Characters, saved context and different audio formats
Secrets has custom and community characters, with private, shared and public modes. The character-creation guide sets an adult age range of 18 to 99. For an ordinary fictional setting, first decide whether the character is just for you or for other users too. That choice has a real consequence: once another user starts a conversation with a shared character, you cannot unshare it.
Your first custom character is free, and each additional one costs 500 Moments. That creation fee is separate from the free custom-character cap of 100 messages total, which also sits under the daily limit. Creating a character and chatting with it are different activities, and one number tells you nothing about the other.
According to the memory description, each companion keeps conversation context and automatically saves important details. That tells you how the product presents continuity. It is not a measured context size, and it does not promise perfect recall. Keep your own outline of your invented character and correct mistakes when they appear; a fluent reply doesn't prove the bot has the whole background right.
Both voice messages and audio calls are documented, and because they use different units, compare them separately. Calls are charged by the minute, while text-to-speech is charged by characters. Listening to a short passage is a different habit from holding a live conversation. The fact that a voice feature exists says nothing about how natural it will sound to you.
The service lists images, video and realistic or anime styles among its capabilities, but the same settings and cost don't apply to every request. The 50-Moment standard image and the higher-resolution rate show why the specific action label matters. Pick a feature because your fictional project needs it, not because it sits next to a subscription advertised as unlimited text.
Adult fictional characters remain subject to rules
Secrets' character guide requires fictional 18+ characters and allows creation ages from 18 to 99. The adult text modes do not lift the service's restrictions. For the ordinary conversations covered here, keep the character and setting invented, and remember that the creation rules have nothing to do with how many Moments you hold.
Visibility and eligibility are separate questions as well. A private character still falls under the content policy, and a shared character being available to others doesn't mean every use of it is allowed. Read the rules attached to each feature instead of assuming permission from a mode name or a paid balance.
Character sharing and account data are different controls
The privacy policy we checked on 2026-10-28 names Secret Labs Inc. in the United States and lists [email protected] as a contact. The policy is dated April 10, 2026. A named company is more specific than an anonymous operator, but on its own it doesn't answer every data-handling question.
To delete your account, go to Account settings, then Delete Account. Cancelling is a different action. The help material says that after a paid period ends, your chats, memories, characters and media stay. If you want the account gone and not just the payments stopped, use the deletion option.
The guide separates custom characters into private, shared and public modes. A shared character cannot be unshared once another user starts a conversation with it, so decide what fictional material you're willing to share before choosing that mode. Leave out sensitive personal details even if the character started as a private writing project.
The sharing setting controls how the character is made available. It does not imply end-to-end encryption or any particular deletion deadline. Keep the background fictional and keep your own original notes somewhere else. If you contact support about an account problem, give enough information to identify the account and leave out conversation history they don't need.
Adult eligibility can include additional checks
The underage policy requires users to be 18+ and to meet the local age of majority. It describes an age gate, registration checks and monitoring, and allows for additional verification. Answer the account's current prompts truthfully, and don't assume a self-declaration will always be the whole process.
The character guide's 18 to 99 range is a rule for creating fictional adults. It says nothing about which identity provider Canadian users will see. Your own eligibility and your character's age are separate requirements, so read both before paying for a subscription or building a shared character for others.
Recognize S LABS INC and finish the cancellation prompts
The documented billing descriptor is S LABS INC. Keep that name with your receipt and your chosen subscription so you can match the statement entry to the purchase. The advertised annual price of US$109.99 covers the term, and any extra Moments purchase shows up as a separate transaction.
Card subscriptions renew automatically. Prepaid keys don't, and the help material handles crypto purchases differently. To cancel, go to Settings, Manage Subscription, Cancel Subscription, pick a reason and confirm. Finish the last confirmation step; opening the management page alone doesn't stop the next payment.
You keep access until the paid period ends, and then the account goes back to free use. The cancellation guide says your chats, memories, characters and media stay. That helps if you want to stop paying but keep a fictional project, and it also means cancelling is not the same as deleting your account.
The refund policy doesn't offer ordinary partial refunds, though statutory exceptions still apply. Don't treat a long subscription like a short trial you can easily get refunded. Read the agreement and renewal amount before paying, and if you later cancel, save the confirmation somewhere outside the app.
Two overlapping free limits and different balance rules
Free custom-character use has both a daily limit and a total cap. General free access allows 20 sent messages a day, resetting 24 hours after the first message. The custom-character cap is 100 messages in total. Hitting that total is not the same as using up your daily allowance, and a new day does not give you another 100 messages.
Moments work in a similar way: monthly grants reset, while purchased top-ups don't expire. Premium's 8,000 monthly Moments are not a permanent purchased balance. An annual subscription also doesn't mean the year's monthly grants arrive as one balance that lasts all year.
A sale price may differ from the renewal amount. Check the actual billing confirmation instead of assuming the advertised US$9.17 equivalent is what you'll pay each month. The Trustpilot profile we checked showed 4.5 from 287 reviews. That aggregate score is not a performance test, and it's no reason to skip reading the terms of a specific offer.
Compare audio units and free access consistently
Nomi, OurDream and Replika give useful points of comparison. Nomi offers 50 free messages a day but keeps voice for subscribers. OurDream charges 50 Dreamcoins per call minute. Replika includes calls in Pro. None of this means a Dreamcoin and a Moment are worth the same in cash.
The main app comparison looks at ordinary fictional conversation formats together with their allowances. For questions about buying locally, the Canada guide treats storefront labels and tax confirmation separately. Keep those differences in mind when two features have similar names but are paid for in different ways.
| Service | Concrete distinction | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Secrets | 20 daily sent messages; 50 Moments per call minute | Daily text versus metered audio |
| Nomi | 50 daily free messages; 400-character free input | Testing text before paying for voice |
| OurDream | 50 Dreamcoins per voice-call minute | Coin use and subscription grant |
| Replika | Pro includes calls; saved memories can be removed | The named plan and account controls |
A fit when the resource rules match your routine
Secrets is worth trying if you want fictional character conversations and don't mind tracking text, call minutes and other actions separately. The 20 daily messages are enough to get a feel for the format. If writing your own character is the main draw, pay attention to the separate custom-character allowance.
It's a poor purchase if you expect unlimited text to cover unlimited calls or every media action. Build the 50 Moments per call minute and the separate top-up rules into your budget. A longer subscription is also a weaker choice while you're still working out whether the format suits you.
What we like
- Use the published action rates if you want a predictable voice budget.
- Keep characters private and fictional when the project is only for your own account.
What could be better
- Don't mistake the custom-character total for a daily allowance that renews.
- Don't share a character casually if you might want to unshare it later.
Frequently asked questions
Is Secrets free for 20 messages every day?
The general allowance is 20 sent messages a day, resetting 24 hours after your first message. Free custom-character conversations also have a total cap of 100 messages. Both limits apply. The total is not 100 messages per day, and the daily reset does not refill it.
Is US$9.17 the amount charged every month?
No. It is the displayed monthly equivalent of the regular US$109.99 annual Premium plan, which you pay for the whole year up front. The regular monthly Premium plan is US$19.99. Check the current renewal amount and how tax is shown at checkout; neither figure is a confirmed Canadian tax-inclusive charge.
The Canadian purchase guide explains the difference between a published currency and the final local payment.
How are voice messages and calls priced?
Audio calls cost 50 Moments per minute. Text-to-speech uses 10 Moments per 100 characters, rounded up, and enhanced text and audio tags are included in the count. These are two different audio activities, so work out which one you plan to use when budgeting.
Do unused Moments always carry forward?
No. Monthly grants reset, while purchased top-ups don't expire. Premium grants 8,000 Moments a month and Ultimate grants 15,000. You need a paid membership to buy top-ups. Treat grant rules and purchased-balance rules separately when estimating future spending.
Can I take back a shared custom character?
The character guide says you can't unshare a character after another user starts a conversation with it. Characters must be fictional adults in the stated 18 to 99 range. Decide whether sharing suits the project before making it available, and keep sensitive personal details out of the background.
What name appears on the statement?
The billing documentation lists S LABS INC. Keep your receipt and subscription term alongside that descriptor. A US$109.99 annual offer and a later Moments purchase are separate transactions, so you'll still need the receipt to tell which item a charge belongs to.
What happens after cancellation?
You keep paid features until the current term ends, and then the account switches to free access. The cancellation guide says your chats, memories, characters and media stay. Free text is then limited to the published 20 sent messages per day. Removing your account data is a separate account action.
Does a high review-platform rating prove good memory?
No. The Trustpilot snapshot we checked showed 4.5 from 287 reviews, and that aggregate is not a controlled memory test. Secrets describes per-companion context and saved details, but having those tools doesn't guarantee it will remember every part of a fictional story correctly.
