Price and policy dates

Page updated 2026-11-01. Plan prices, Gem grants and the free-plan description were checked on 2026-10-28. Support, refund and account-deletion pages were checked up to 2026-10-29. The privacy policy is dated 2026-10-02, and the Trustpilot figure is a snapshot from 2026-10-28. Some unofficial websites still describe a June 2024 policy and a fixed number of free Gems. Those figures don't match the current official pages, so this page relies on the official terms. Plans, Gem rules and account screens can change, and the checkout summary in your own account takes priority over any figure here.

Plans, Gems and what a month can actually cost

Promptchan sells three monthly tiers, each pairing a chat allowance with a Gem grant. Plus is $14.99 with 100 Gems and twice the chat allowance. Premium is $23.99 with 400 Gems and five times the chat allowance. Pro is $33.99 with 800 Gems, unlimited chat, unlimited casual image generation, and the video extension and voice tools. These are the public figures as displayed on 2026-10-28. The page doesn't state the currency code or whether tax is included. Prices here are listed before GST/HST, and the rate depends on your province, so you only see the final Canadian total at checkout.

Read the chat multipliers carefully. Two times and five times are measured against a baseline the upgrade page doesn't quantify, so they show how the plans rank, not how many messages you get. Pro is the only tier described as unlimited for chat and casual images.

If you treat the whole plan price as payment for Gems (which overstates their cost, since chat access is bundled in), the per-100 figure drops quickly as you move up. Plus works out to $14.99 per 100 Gems, Premium about $6.00 and Pro about $4.25, all in the same displayed currency. Premium gives four times the Plus grant for $9.00 more, and Pro doubles Premium's grant for $10.00 more. That arithmetic only matters if you'd actually spend the Gems. Someone who mostly chats and makes the odd image may never use up a larger grant.

Your real monthly cost is the subscription plus any extra Gems you buy. Voice shows this most clearly. At 1 Gem per voice message, Plus covers 100 voice messages a month, Premium 400 and Pro 800, assuming the Gems go to nothing else. A Plus user who sends 150 voice messages in a month needs 50 more Gems. Paid subscribers get a 50% discount on additional Gems, but pack sizes and prices weren't confirmed on the official pages we checked, so you can only see the cost of those 50 Gems at checkout. Voice calls are listed at 2 Gems with no billing unit or duration, so you can't work out a call budget in advance.

To budget, pick the tier whose Gem grant matches your expected voice and media use. Count any Gem purchase as a separate cost on top of the subscription. Then compare the checkout total, including currency and GST/HST, with the displayed plan price before you confirm. The free plan includes daily Gems and needs no card, but no quantity is published, so it's a way to try the interface rather than an allowance you can measure.

Crypto is a documented payment method. Crypto purchases are fixed-term and nonrefundable, so paying in crypto is like buying a prepaid term, and you can't reverse it through the refund route described below. Purchases made through G2A are also fixed-term.

What the published features cover

Image generation. Promptchan lists photorealistic and anime styles. Pro adds unlimited casual image generation, while the lower tiers depend on their chat and Gem allowances. A style label describes how the output looks. It says nothing about how many attempts a finished image will take, so heavy users should choose a tier by how often they generate, not by the style list.

Video and animation. Video tools exist, and Pro includes the video extension features. You can only animate images generated inside Promptchan. Uploading outside images for animation isn't supported, so older reviews that describe animating your own pictures don't reflect the current rules. Everything you animate starts as an invented character made on the platform.

Voice messages and calls. Both are available. Voice messages cost 1 Gem each, and the call entry costs 2 Gems with no stated unit. Pro lists voice tools among its inclusions. No supported voice languages are listed, and the interface is in English.

Custom characters and styles. You can create custom characters, and custom characters and styles are listed on Pro. You can't import or export characters, use your own images, or plug in external models. A character you build stays on the platform, so if a long-running fictional persona matters to you, keep your own written description of it. That also makes it easier to move to another service later.

Platforms. Promptchan runs on the web, and the upgrade page advertises cross-platform access. Support, however, treats legacy iOS and Android subscriptions separately from current website entitlements. Paying through an old store listing doesn't carry over to the website plan. No current official store links were confirmed, so treat the website as the main route.

Storage. Unsaved or unpublished generations expire after 24 hours. Save anything you want to keep within that window, or you'll lose it. The service is built for making things, not archiving them.

Memory. Promptchan publishes no details about conversational memory or recall length, so this review makes no claim about how well characters remember earlier chats.

Adult content rules in practice

The terms of service allow adult text and adult images for users who meet the 18+ requirement, within firm limits. The terms prohibit any content involving minors, non-consensual sexual material, and using a person's likeness without their consent. The upload rule supports this: you can't bring in outside images, and only images created inside Promptchan can be animated. Every character and scene therefore starts as a fictional creation on the platform.

Keep characters clearly adult and invented, with no resemblance to anyone you know. A prompt that breaks these rules risks enforcement under the terms on any plan. Paying for Pro removes generation limits, not content rules. The content rules are in the terms of service at promptchan.com/termsofservice. Read them before subscribing so you don't hit a boundary after paying, especially if you plan to use the video tools, which only work with platform-generated images.

Privacy: Irish operator, deletion window and short-lived generations

Promptchan is operated by VisionAI Labs Limited, registered at The Black Church, St Marys Place, Dublin, D07 P4AX, Ireland. The privacy jurisdiction is Ireland, and the current privacy policy is dated 2026-10-02. For a Canadian user, that means a company outside Canada holds your account data under its own published policy.

The policy says data is kept as long as needed for service, legal and accounting purposes, with no single fixed period. Support adds two concrete rules. Unsaved or unpublished generations expire after 24 hours. Deleting an account starts a 30-day recovery window: the account is disabled immediately and removed permanently after 30 days unless you restore it. If you delete by mistake, logging back in during that period undoes it.

To delete, open Settings and scroll to the bottom, where Delete Account is listed. Cancel any active subscription first. Deletion and billing are separate steps, and support asks you to cancel before deleting. If you ever subscribed through the legacy iOS or Android apps, cancel that store subscription too, because deleting the website account doesn't touch Apple or Google billing.

We checked the official policy and support pages on 2026-10-28 and 2026-10-29 and found no end-to-end encryption commitment and no stated rule on whether chats are used for model training. Write prompts and character descriptions as fiction, and leave out real names, addresses, workplaces and other identifying details.

Signing up and the age check

Promptchan's terms require users to be 18 or older. The age check is self-declaration: you confirm your age, and no third-party provider is named. We saw no region-specific verification flow, and nothing specific to Canada is described. Under the terms, meeting the age requirement is the user's responsibility.

The free plan needs no payment card, so you can explore the interface before committing. It gives daily Gems, but the current upgrade page doesn't say how many, so expect to try features rather than count on a fixed daily quota. A specific free Gem count on an unofficial site may come from an older policy. One unofficial article still cites 15 free Gems tied to a June 2024 policy, which the current official pages don't confirm.

You log in through the website. If you used one of the older mobile apps, a store subscription from that period doesn't grant the current website benefits, even if you log in with the same account details. Check which purchase channel you're on before paying again, so you don't end up with two active charges on one account.

Billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds

Paid plans renew automatically each month until you cancel. The name that appears on a card statement wasn't confirmed in the official pages we checked. The terms name the legal operator as VisionAI Labs Limited of Dublin, which may help you match a charge to the service. Keep your purchase confirmation email in case a statement entry is unclear.

To cancel a website subscription, open Settings and select Cancel next to your plan. That is the only documented route. It stops renewal but isn't a refund request. Crypto and G2A purchases are fixed-term and don't renew, so there's no recurring charge to cancel.

Legacy store subscriptions are the main billing trap. If you subscribed through the old iOS or Android apps, cancel in Apple's or Google's subscription settings. Those subscriptions don't grant current website benefits, and cancelling on the website won't stop them. Check your Apple ID and Google Play subscription lists even if you haven't opened the old app in a long time.

The refund policy at promptchan.com/refund allows subscription refund requests within 30 days of a charge, provided there has been no significant AI use, and asks you to cancel first. The policy doesn't define significant use, so a request made after active generating may be refused. Crypto payments are nonrefundable. Store-billed legacy subscriptions follow Apple's or Google's own processes. To keep the refund option open, decide soon after the first charge and use the plan lightly until then.

Red flags to check before paying

• Legacy iOS and Android subscriptions can keep billing without giving current website benefits. Cancel them in the store where they started.
• Unsaved or unpublished generations expire after 24 hours. Save or publish anything you want to keep.
• Plan prices show a dollar sign without a confirmed currency code or tax treatment. Canadian buyers should check the checkout total, including GST/HST, before confirming.
• The free plan has daily Gems, but no quantity is published. Third-party sites quoting a fixed free figure may be out of date.
• The 2-Gem voice call entry has no stated duration, so you can't estimate call spending in advance.
• Additional Gem pack prices weren't confirmed. The 50% subscriber discount applies to prices you only see at checkout.
• Refund eligibility depends on no significant AI use, which the policy doesn't define. Crypto payments can't be refunded.
• Age is confirmed by self-declaration only, and we saw no region-specific check.
• You have to cancel recurring billing before deleting your account, and deletion takes 30 days to become final.

How Promptchan compares with three adult-capable alternatives

This comparison uses services that allow adult content for fictional characters and publish a token or credit model. Figures for the three alternatives were checked on 2026-10-29. Prices are shown as each service displays them: Candy's and Promptchan's with a dollar sign and no currency code, OurDream's and Secrets AI's in US dollars. None of these figures is a Canadian checkout total, and GST/HST may be added depending on your province.

Promptchan offers a simple three-step Gem ladder and a Pro tier with no chat or casual image limits. Candy.ai has the cheapest first month, but it renews at a higher price, and its free introduction is a fixed total rather than a daily refill. OurDream includes 1000 Dreamcoins a month with its US$19.99 plan and publishes a detailed cost per action, including 50 coins per voice call minute, so voice budgets are easier to estimate than with Promptchan's unitless call entry. Secrets AI publishes the most concrete free allowance, 20 sent messages per day, and its US$19.99 Premium plan includes 8000 Moments a month, with 50 Moments per audio call minute.

On privacy, Promptchan is the only one of the four with an Irish operator. Candy is run from Malta, and OurDream and Secrets AI from the United States. Candy's and OurDream's policies both permit using user content for training. Promptchan's pages don't state a training rule either way. All four rely on 18+ self-declaration at signup. Who Promptchan fits and who should look elsewhere

Promptchan suits adults who want to create fictional characters, images and short animations in one place and can budget a month around a fixed Gem grant. The tiers are easy to compare: 100, 400 or 800 Gems, with Pro removing limits on chat and casual images. Free access without a card lets you try the interface before paying.

• Good fit: adults planning regular voice messages who can work out a month's needs at 1 Gem each.
• Good fit: users who generate often and would actually use Pro's unlimited casual images.
• Good fit: readers who prefer an operator in Ireland with a privacy policy dated 2026-10-02.
• Good fit: anyone happy to work only with images created on the platform.

It fits less well if you need certainty before paying or want your work stored long term.

• Not a fit: buyers who need a confirmed Canadian dollar price with tax shown before checkout.
• Not a fit: users who want a published, measurable free daily allowance.
• Not a fit: anyone who expects generations to be kept automatically; unsaved items expire after 24 hours.
