An illustrated character still has an account behind it
A waifu AI is a fictional companion shown as an anime-style character. The look can matter to you, but it says nothing about how conversations are stored or what the account costs. Candy.ai lists an Anime option in its character creator, and Nomi mentions anime next to photorealistic and fantasy styles. Their starting allowances are very different: Candy gives five messages in total, while Nomi publishes 50 messages per day.
Judge the text experience apart from the illustration. A character can look the same every time and still forget something you said, and a good image tells you nothing about memory. Secrets.ai documents automatic memories for each companion, and its ordinary free allowance is 20 messages per day. Those are two account features that do different jobs. For Canadian readers, the clearest local price here is Nomi's annual Canadian iOS entry at CA$129.99. Annual means you pay once for a full year, not monthly.
The entries below cover appearance options, account limits and privacy decisions. They are not ranked by quality. Only fictional adults belong in these comparisons, and a drawn style does not change that.

Five documented appearance and account combinations
Candy.ai: a visible Anime choice and a finite introduction
- Price / month$13.99/mo
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
Candy.ai is upfront about its visual choice: the public character creator offers Realistic and Anime. That confirms an illustrated option exists. It does not tell you how consistent a character looks from one output to the next, or how closely its dialogue follows a detailed personality. Treat the style selector as an appearance setting and look at the account rules on their own.
The introductory allowance is small and fixed: five messages across all characters, one custom character and one image. The five messages are a total and do not reset each day. They show you how the interface is laid out, but they cannot back up any claim about long-term memory. Premium includes 100 tokens per month and Premium Plus includes 330. You also need the cost per action before a monthly token grant tells you how many actions you can complete.
The subscriptions page shows $9.99 for the first month and $13.99 for each monthly renewal after that. The page does not name an ISO currency, so don't read those figures as Canadian-dollar checkout prices. Quarterly and yearly billing are separate options. An illustrated avatar has no effect on the amount charged or the renewal terms, and you still need to keep the actual receipt.
Privacy is its own question, apart from style. The policy allows specified processing of conversation content, including training and de-identified review. To remove an account, go to Settings, Danger Zone and Delete. To stop renewal, go to My Profile, Settings and Unsubscribe. These are different controls. If you only want to stop paying, find the subscription action first, then decide whether you also want to remove the character and account history.
What we like
- Anime is an explicit option in the public creator.
- The five-message introductory limit is stated as a total.
What could be better
- A short introduction cannot show whether recall holds up over time.
- The public dollar display does not confirm a Canadian checkout total.
Nomi: a recurring text allowance alongside anime styles
- Price / monthCA$12.99/mo
- Free tier50 msg/day
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb, iOS
Nomi offers anime, photorealistic and fantasy character styles. Its free text allowance is 50 messages per day, so the daily reset matters most in any comparison. Free users can send up to 400 characters per message, and subscribers up to 800. Those numbers limit how long a message you submit can be. They do not measure how much of the conversation the system remembers.
Paid access includes up to 10 companions and 10 groups. Several characters can help if you want to keep separate fictional settings apart, but more slots do not make any one character write better. Work out whether you really need several distinct conversations before counting the extra slots as value. You pay for a slot whether you use it or not, so compare a plan against the features you plan to use.
In the Canadian iOS listing, the quarterly purchase is CA$49.99 and the annual purchase is CA$129.99. The Standard entry at CA$19.99 does not show its billing interval, so it can't be quoted as a monthly price. A separate 100-credit purchase costs CA$12.99. Credits and subscription access are different kinds of purchase, and your receipt should show which one you bought. You need a paid subscription to buy credits.
Nomi states plainly that chats are not end-to-end encrypted. An anime character does not hide what you share from the operator. Deletion requires email confirmation and typing DELETE, and processing takes about 28 days, with some exceptions. Cancelling a subscription goes through Profile, Subscription and Manage, and the platform you originally paid through handles the final cancellation. Think about export and retention before you close an account.
What we like
- The free allowance gives both a number and a daily reset.
- Canadian quarterly and annual store entries show their billing terms.
What could be better
- Chats are not end-to-end encrypted.
- A subscription and a credit purchase give different entitlements.
OurDream: distinguish the named style from the monthly balance
- Price / monthUS$19.99/mo
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
OurDream's official community FAQ names Fluidity Anime. That shows one specific illustrated option exists. It does not show that every character or model looks the same. The FAQ also explains that the browser service, including its home-screen install, is not a native app. Don't mistake a browser shortcut for a separately verified store app.
The Standard monthly subscription is US$19.99 and includes 1,000 Dreamcoins. The annual purchase is US$119.88, shown as US$9.99 per month, and a first-month bonus changes how many coins you get at the start. You pay the annual amount for the whole term up front; the monthly figure is only for comparison. Neither US-dollar price tells you the Canadian-dollar total once the payment provider converts it and adds any tax.
Ordinary paid text conversations cost zero coins, while the Genius option uses one coin per response. That difference is about your account budget. It is not a claim that one mode writes better dialogue. Coins can pay for other features too, so keep ordinary conversation and optional actions apart when you review your account. Ending a month with a large balance does not always mean you needed the subscription for that month's text use.
Deletion has a direct billing effect: deleting the OurDream account automatically cancels its active subscription. The help page says deletion takes 24 to 48 hours and that unused coins are lost. Normal cancellation does less damage and keeps your access until the end of the paid term. Decide which outcome you want before you use the danger-zone control. Retention exceptions in the privacy policy, and anything you have already shared, are separate matters.
What we like
- The official FAQ names an anime option.
- The coin rate for standard text is listed apart from the optional model rate.
What could be better
- The published subscription amounts are in US dollars.
- Deleting the account also forfeits the unused coin balance.
Secrets.ai: appearance choices with different free-message counters
- Price / monthUS$19.99/mo
- Free tier20 msg/day
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
Secrets.ai documents anime and realistic options for custom characters. Its character controls set an adult age range of 18 to 99. Make the visual choice and the character's adult identity match. A stylised drawing does not remove the need for a clearly adult fictional character, and this comparison includes no explicit character scenarios.
The free ordinary-chat allowance is 20 sent messages per day, and it resets 24 hours after your first message. Custom characters have their own total allowance of 100 messages, on top of the daily limit. The two limits work differently: the daily counter renews, while the custom-character limit is a fixed total. Track them separately when you decide whether a free account supports the kind of ongoing conversation you want.
The advertised Premium annual offer is US$109.99, shown as US$9.17 per month, with 8,000 Moments each month. You pay the annual amount up front. Under the published schedule, each custom character after the first costs 500 Moments. Monthly grants reset, but purchased top-ups never expire. Those expiry rules matter more than how large a single balance looks.
Characters can be private, shared or public. The documentation warns that once another user starts a conversation with a shared character, you cannot unshare it. Pick the visibility before you send it out, and don't assume that removing a link undoes earlier sharing. The documentation says automatic memories are kept per companion, but it does not report any measured test of retention or accuracy.
What we like
- The documentation keeps daily chat and the custom-character total separate.
- Private, shared and public visibility are each clearly described.
What could be better
- Sharing a character can have lasting consequences.
- The annual offer is an upfront US-dollar purchase.
Lovescape: visibility settings before sharing a fictional character
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
Lovescape offers anime and realistic styles and supports fictional adult characters. Its character-management help lists private and public visibility, with private as the default. Check a character's actual visibility before you share it. Appearance is only part of a profile. The name, biography and conversation setup can also reveal things the creator did not mean to publish.
The safety article says characters remember earlier conversations while you are logged in. That describes how the account is meant to behave, not a measured memory window, and it gives no number of exchanges the character reliably remembers. A general promise about memory is not the same as a published input length or a list of saved facts you can edit.
Lovescape uses Chips for optional actions. Its help says purchased Chips never expire, cannot be refunded, and can be bought by active subscribers. The cost of an action varies and is shown before you take it. Without that rate, you can't convert a Chip balance into a set number of future actions. The balance is also separate from the recurring subscription payment.
Membership renews automatically. To cancel, go to account settings and choose cancellation; access continues until the paid period ends. A balance that never expires does not by itself mean you keep every subscriber feature after that. For an 18+ fictional-character account, review billing and sharing separately: stopping renewal handles payment, and visibility controls decide who can find the character.
What we like
- The character help explains private and public visibility.
- The Chip documentation states expiry and refund terms.
What could be better
- Because action costs vary, a balance does not convert to a fixed number of outputs.
- A general memory claim is not tested recall.
Start with the conversation you will actually use
If you plan to chat regularly, compare reset periods first: Nomi publishes 50 messages a day, while Candy.ai's five-message introduction is a one-time total. If you want a custom fictional character, tell apart an editable personality and a paid character slot. Secrets.ai's separate 100-message custom-character allowance makes that difference matter. For appearance, rely on a documented Anime option, and don't assume that every illustrated catalogue image means you can configure that style.
Next, check whether you are buying a subscription or a balance you use up. Nomi's CA$129.99 annual entry buys a year's subscription, and its CA$12.99 credit entry buys 100 credits. Keep those costs apart. The wider AI companion comparison covers how dialogue features, billing periods and account controls fit together beyond a preference for an illustrated avatar.
How we score
Scores are computed from each app's published terms, pricing, policies and store listings on the dates shown. We have not yet run paid test accounts; when we do, experience criteria will be added and the cap on the total score removed. Affiliate links never change a score. Full methodology

A fictional profile can still contain personal information
Secrets.ai's 18 to 99 character range is a rule for character settings. It doesn't mean a fictional biography should include your real address, employer or private messages. Keep invented background details apart from personal facts you mention in chat. Nomi says outright that it lacks end-to-end encryption, which is another reason not to confuse an intimate tone with a technical privacy guarantee. Lovescape's visibility controls cover sharing. They don't show that the operator cannot process account information.
Deletion works differently on each service. OurDream says deleting an account cancels the subscription and takes 24 to 48 hours. Candy.ai has a separate unsubscribe control, and Nomi stops renewal through the platform you originally paid on. Read the exact steps for the account you are closing. A familiar trash icon or danger-zone heading does not mean the billing effects are the same everywhere.
Judge the account behind the illustration
An anime option settles how a character looks. It leaves price, privacy and memory open. Judge a recurring allowance such as Nomi's 50 daily messages and a one-time introduction each on its own terms, and keep a Canadian annual amount such as CA$129.99 next to its platform and billing period. Pick the account whose everyday conversation, sharing controls and ongoing cost suit how you plan to use it, and don't take a character's visual style as proof of quality.
Frequently asked questions
What does waifu mean here?
It means a fictional companion presented in an anime style. All characters on this page are adults aged 18 or over. The label does not point to any particular model, memory capacity, payment plan or privacy standard.
Is an anime AI companion free?
Some accounts offer a limited introduction or a recurring allowance. Nomi publishes 50 free messages per day. Candy.ai publishes five messages in total. Secrets.ai separates its ordinary 20-message daily allowance from a custom-character total. These are different kinds of access.
Does choosing anime improve memory?
A style setting says nothing about memory. Nomi's 400-character free input limit is about message length, and Secrets.ai describes saved memories for each companion. Neither shows that an illustrated style improves recall.
Can a Canadian App Store amount be treated as the web price?
No. Nomi's CA$129.99 annual iOS entry is a purchase in one specific storefront. The web subscription may use a different currency and billing channel. Note the platform and term next to each amount.
Are several characters included in every subscription?
It varies. Paid Nomi access lists 10 companions. Secrets.ai charges 500 Moments for each custom character after the first. A character count is a capacity limit; it does not mean every slot will be useful.
Does an 18+ label mean a site has no content restrictions?
No. The adult audience requirement and the service's content rules are separate things. This page covers fictional adults and ordinary account information. A style or age label does not let you ignore a platform's restrictions.
Will removing a character stop payment?
Don't assume it will. OurDream says deleting the account cancels the subscription, and that deletion takes 24 to 48 hours. Other services have separate cancellation controls. Removing one character is also not the same as deleting the whole account.
Which settings should be checked before sharing?
Secrets.ai has private, shared and public characters, all within its 18 to 99 adult character range. Its documentation says you cannot unshare a shared character once someone has used it. Decide on visibility before you share, not after.
