Daily chat, small samples and no-signup tools
A free AI girlfriend service might give you a daily message allowance, a small one-time sample or ongoing access to a particular model. Nomi publishes 50 messages per day. Secrets AI gives 20 sent messages that reset after 24 hours, and custom characters have a 100-message total ceiling that also sits under the daily limit. Candy.ai describes five messages across characters and does not say they renew each day. All of these can be called free, but they are built for different things.
Pick the unit that matches how you plan to use the service: typed messages, input length, voice minutes or a fixed balance. A token count is not automatically a message count, and the price of a feature tells you nothing about how much free credit a new account gets. This page compares those concrete terms and does not pick a winner for dialogue quality. For a wider look at paid and free features, the AI companion comparison separates subscription features from starting allowances.

What each allowance can and cannot tell you
Nomi: a daily text allowance with a separate input limit
- Price / monthCA$12.99/mo
- Free tier50 msg/day
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb, iOS
Nomi publishes 50 free messages per day, and its indefinite free plan does not require a card. That is easier to plan around than a small welcome balance, because the allowance renews daily instead of being a single grant you spread across the life of the account. The free message box also caps each input at 400 characters.
Paid accounts get 800 characters per input. Doubling the input length is a concrete change, but it does not mean answers become twice as useful or that recall improves by the same amount. Nomi advertises persistent memory, backstories, shared notes and Mind Maps. These describe how information can be organised. None of them is a measured guarantee that every detail from an earlier conversation will come back.
Voice is restricted on the free plan: without a subscription, voice features are read-only. Use the free tier to judge ordinary text exchanges and character setup, and don't count on a daily voice call. A text-message count also says nothing about how many images the account gets. Images and videos follow their own paid credit rules.
If you want to compare costs later, the Canadian Apple listing includes a Standard quarterly item at CA$49.99 and an annual item at CA$129.99. These are store purchases with different billing periods, not a fee for keeping the free plan. The listing also has a CA$19.99 Standard item whose visible name does not show its billing interval, so leave it out of any monthly comparison. GST/HST and the final purchase screen are separate matters.
Nomi states that it does not use end-to-end encryption. Its privacy policy says personal information is removed within about 28 days after account deletion, with exceptions. This applies even if you never upgrade: not paying is not the same as keeping a private notebook on your own device.
What we like
- 50 messages each day
- No card required for the indefinite free plan
What could be better
- 400-character limit on free inputs
- Voice features are read-only without a subscription
Secrets AI: separate the daily counter from the custom-character sample
- Price / monthUS$19.99/mo
- Free tier20 msg/day
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
Secrets AI allows 20 sent messages per day, and the counter resets 24 hours after the first message. The reset rolls from that first message, so a new allowance does not appear at Canadian midnight. If you start a session in the afternoon, plan around the 24-hour interval, not the calendar date.
Custom characters have a maximum of 100 messages in total, and the 20-message daily limit still applies to them. You cannot use the whole 100 in one day. Once you reach that ceiling, no new daily custom-character sample appears. Keep both counters in mind when working out how much ongoing conversation free access covers.
The paid system runs on Moments. Premium includes 8,000 Moments per month, and the published annual offer is US$109.99 paid for the year. The displayed US$9.17 monthly figure is that annual commitment divided by twelve. It has not been verified as a standalone monthly payment. When moving from the free sample to a subscription, check both the amount charged and the period it covers.
Media and voice draw on the same currency at different rates. An audio-call minute costs 50 Moments, and each custom character after the first free one costs 500. These are debit rates, not free allowances. A listed price for a feature does not mean a new free account gets enough credit to use it.
If you cancel a paid subscription, your chats, memories, characters and media stay in place when the account returns to free access. Account deletion is a separate control. The character rules limit the service to fictional adults and ban characters based on real people, whether or not a message was paid for. For a free comparison, what matters here is the reset schedule and the separate custom-character total. Not every feature shares the same allowance.
What we like
- 20 sent messages with a stated 24-hour reset
- Separate custom-character allowance is documented
What could be better
- Custom characters: 100 messages total within the 20/day limit
- Monthly Moments are part of paid membership
CrushOn AI: free models and premium credits use different counters
- Price / monthUS$5.99/mo
- NSFWlimited
- PlatformsWeb
CrushOn AI currently offers unlimited chats on its free models, plus 100 Pro credits per month and 20 Inspiration Replies per day. Don't add these three together into one daily-message number. Unlimited free-model chat does not make premium-model credits unlimited, and the monthly grant does not refill when the daily Inspiration allowance does.
An older subscription document describes 100 messages per month in general terms. The current split between free models and Pro credits is more specific, so saying the whole service allows only 100 messages would leave out a large part of today's offer. Calling every model unlimited would be wrong in the other direction, because it hides the credit limit that paid-model users need to watch.
The Standard paid plan is listed at US$5.99 per month with 2,000 Pro credits. Premium is US$14.99 per month with 6,000 Pro credits and a claimed long-term-memory feature. These figures show differences in allowance and price. They do not show a measured difference in answer quality. The Canadian checkout total and any conversion by a payment provider are separate from the US-dollar amounts.
The credit terms are easy to mix up. An official FAQ refers to coins and counts each AI reply as two messages. Don't apply that older rule to every current model, and don't use it to put a cash value on the free 100-credit grant. A fair comparison names the model category and the counter the service actually shows for it.
Deletion has an unusual limit: the FAQ lets you delete only messages newer than 24 hours. Deleting the account is a different operation, and an active subscription can block it. If you want to remove older conversations one by one, don't assume every past message has the same delete option. Free access can still involve a privacy trade-off, even when no payment is needed to keep chatting.
What we like
- Free models are separated from metered Pro access
- 100 monthly Pro credits and 20 daily Inspiration Replies are stated separately
What could be better
- Older message-count documents differ from current model accounting
- Selective message deletion is limited by message age
Candy.ai: a small sample with no stated daily renewal
- Price / month$13.99/mo
- NSFWyes
- Age checkself declaration
- PlatformsWeb
Candy.ai's free sample is 5 chat messages across characters, 1 created character and 1 generated image. The published allowance does not mention a daily reset, so treat it as a small starting sample, not five messages a day or a daily image. Switching characters does not give you a fresh five messages for each one.
That makes it very different from Nomi's 50 daily messages or the 20-message daily counter on Secrets AI. Candy.ai can show you how the basic chat and character screens work, but five messages leave little room for a long exchange. They can't show whether a character remembers details over several days, and one generated image can't show how consistent future images will be.
Paid Standard membership includes 100 tokens per month, and Premium Plus lists 330. These are paid allowances and do not belong to the free plan or replace its five-message total. Plus also advertises 20 memory slots and five chat clones. Tokens, memory slots and chat messages are different units, so adding them up would not tell you anything useful about free value.
Check introductory and renewal charges before upgrading. The public price display shows a first-month promotion and a higher renewal amount, but the dollar sign on its own does not prove the offer is in Canadian dollars. This comparison does not use that display as a CAD monthly price. The checkout receipt is where the actual currency and provincial tax show up.
For the exact sample limits, see the Candy.ai free-access explanation. The Candy.ai review covers the subscription and account controls in more detail. Cancelling and deleting are different actions: My Profile, Settings and Unsubscribe handles the subscription, and the Danger Zone holds the account-deletion control. Stopping renewal does not by itself request deletion of the personal information covered by the privacy policy.
What we like
- 5-message, 1-character and 1-image sample is clearly described
- Free and paid token allowances are easy to tell apart
What could be better
- No daily reset is stated for the sample
- Five messages cannot show long-term conversational consistency
Perchance: no-signup text chat with history kept in the browser
- Price / monthFree tier
- NSFWyes
- Age checknone
- PlatformsWeb
Perchance AI Chat advertises unlimited free messaging with no signup, card or daily cap. That is the provider's statement about access, not a guarantee that the servers will always keep up. It also applies to that specific generator. Perchance hosts many generators, and a feature in Character Chat should not be assumed for every page with the Perchance name.
The simple AI Chat interface stores conversation history in the browser's local storage. That helps if you want to avoid registering an account, but it changes what persistence means. A conversation saved in one browser is not a cloud backup, and it won't follow you to another device. Clearing site data can wipe that local history.
Editable summaries let you carry context forward within a chat. Perchance does not publish a guaranteed memory-window size. A summary can leave out a detail, and an editable note is not the same as a proven ability to recall everything said earlier.
The Character Chat generator adds import and export and advertises built-in image generation. Those features belong to that generator. The text-plugin documentation says separately that prompts and responses are not stored on its server. That claim is narrower than a promise that every extension, shared link or generator handles privacy the same way.
Exported conversations and share links also make copies outside the original browser view. Someone you share with can keep what you sent even after you clear the original local chat. Keep personal identifiers out of fictional character material and treat any export as a file others can read.
What we like
- Advertised free unlimited text without signup
- Local history with save and export options in the relevant generators
What could be better
- Clearing browser data can remove conversation history
- Features and privacy claims vary by generator
HakkoAI: a voice sample with no stated reset period
- Price / monthUS$9.99/mo
- NSFWno
- PlatformsWeb, iOS
HakkoAI's official comparison article lists 2,100 free credits, 30 voice minutes and five voice playbacks. It gives no reset interval for these figures. Calling the allowance daily or monthly would add a promise the published description does not make. The numbers are useful as a stated sample, but you can't plan a recurring voice budget around them until your account shows how the allowance renews.
HakkoAI is built as a game-aware companion that uses screen context, so its privacy controls are part of the comparison, not a side note. The policy says automatic screenshots are kept for three calendar days. Screenshots you send into a conversation yourself are stored in the chat database and do not expire after three days.
According to the policy, focused-window capture is on by default on PC. Mobile screen capture needs your permission. A free-credit balance tells you nothing about what might be visible in a captured window, so compare both the amount of voice access and how screen information gets into a conversation. Normal game interaction does not require sharing unrelated personal documents or payment details.
The service agreement prohibits pornographic interactions, so this is a general companion and gaming service, not one without content restrictions. Its own-voice cloning feature is limited to adults and does not grant permission to imitate another person. That rule applies to paid features as well as free access.
The free tier is described as having standard memory and limited chat, with no verified daily message count. If your main priority is a predictable number of typed messages, Nomi's daily quota is a clearer published unit. If you're comparing voice samples, you can use HakkoAI's stated 30 minutes while keeping in mind that the reset period is unknown. Neither comparison assumes that a linked Canadian app-store page proves the app can currently be installed or an account opened.
What we like
- Published sample includes 2,100 credits and 30 voice minutes
- Separate screenshot-retention rules are documented
What could be better
- Sample reset period is not stated
- Screen-aware functions need attention to capture settings
Character.AI: unlimited text, with a waiting room and an uncertain future
- Price / monthUS$9.99/mo
- NSFWno
- Age checkthird party
- PlatformsWeb, iOS, Android
Character.AI promises unlimited free messages and notes that a waiting room can appear when demand is high. Unlimited means there is no stated message quota. It does not promise instant access at every moment. If your main worry is hitting a hard daily counter, this differs from a 50-message daily allowance, though waiting and availability still affect how it feels to use.
Free accounts get 15 memory pins. The paid Lite offer lists 30 pins, and c.ai+ adds a broader set of memory tools. Pins keep selected pieces of information. They do not prove the whole conversation will be remembered accurately, so a higher pin count is a feature difference, not enough to rank conversation quality.
The published rules prohibit pornographic content, and paying does not lift that rule. Keep character interactions fictional and adult within this comparison. Unlimited messages never means unlimited permission for any request. Content rules and age checks are separate from whether a message costs money.
Age assurance runs through Persona, using age estimation, a selfie check when needed and an identity document as a fallback. Character.AI says it does not receive the identity images and says Persona deletes biometric data within seven days. That retention period covers verification data only. It is not a promise about how long conversations or account records are kept.
There is also a dated question about the company's future. On 12 October 2026, it announced a voluntary Chapter 11 court-supervised sale process. The announcement says billing and subscriptions continue while the service operates, that continued operation depends on a viable sale, and that otherwise the platform will wind down. A long prepaid commitment is therefore a separate decision from using free text access. Keep copies of any character notes that matter to you instead of relying on the online account as the only place they exist.
What we like
- Unlimited free messages are clearly advertised
- 15 free memory pins give a concrete feature allowance
What could be better
- Busy periods can involve a waiting room
- Company announcement makes service continuity depend on a sale
Choose a unit before comparing a price
For regular typed conversation, start with a published recurring counter. Nomi's 50 daily messages and Secrets AI's 20 daily sent messages are direct statements of the allowance. Candy.ai's five-message sample answers a narrower question, namely what the interface feels like at first. It won't support repeated daily use.
For voice, look at the minutes and the reset period together. HakkoAI lists 30 free minutes but doesn't say when they renew, which is very different from thirty minutes every day. Likewise, Secrets AI's paid rate of 50 Moments per audio minute is a usage charge. It does not mean free accounts get a daily voice allowance.
If you write long messages, look at message size as well as message count. Nomi's free input limit is 400 characters. Character.AI's 15 memory pins deal with stored information instead. Neither number measures emotional understanding or how accurate a reply is. A service can offer more messages and still give you less control over the feature you care about.
If you don't want to pay anything, stick with a clearly described free allowance and treat every subscription screen as a separate decision. A Canadian app listing can show a price without showing the final GST/HST charge or the website's offer. Check the billing period next to the amount: an annual total, a monthly equivalent and a monthly renewal are different commitments.
How we score
Scores are computed from each app's published terms, pricing, policies and store listings on the dates shown. We have not yet run paid test accounts; when we do, experience criteria will be added and the cap on the total score removed. Affiliate links never change a score. Full methodology

- Cancellation and refunds (weight 10%)
- Content rules (weight 10%)
- Privacy (weight 15%)
- Age check (weight 10%)
- Platforms and language (weight 10%)

Free access still creates a conversation record
Privacy differences matter before you pay anything. Nomi says plainly that its service is not end-to-end encrypted and that personal information is removed within about 28 days after deletion, with exceptions. Perchance AI Chat keeps history in browser storage, and its text-plugin documentation says prompts and responses are not stored on the server. These describe different ways of handling data. They don't add up to a single privacy ranking.
Deletion also covers different things on different services. HakkoAI keeps automatically captured screenshots for three days, but screenshots you submit yourself go into the chat database. On CrushOn AI, the FAQ allows selective deletion only for messages newer than 24 hours. Closing a browser or cancelling a subscription does not erase every record on either service.
Use fictional adult character details, and keep account passwords, payment information and identifying documents out of conversations. Age assurance is a separate process: Character.AI describes Persona verification and a seven-day deletion period for biometric data. Even on a free tier, you still need to know which provider receives your verification information and which controls manage the conversation itself.
The biggest difference is how the allowance renews
For a predictable daily text counter, compare Nomi's 50 messages with Secrets AI's 20 sent messages and its stated 24-hour reset. For a quick sample, Candy.ai's five-message total covers much less. For ongoing free-model access, read CrushOn AI's separate Pro-credit limits next to its unlimited free-model claim. The right free option is one whose limits and data controls fit how you plan to use it, without relying on an assumed reset, an unsupported CAD price or a score nobody has measured.

Frequently asked questions
Which option has a clearly stated daily message allowance?
Nomi allows 50 messages per day. Secrets AI allows 20 sent messages, resetting 24 hours after the first message. These counters are clearer than a general free-access claim, but the numbers don't tell you which replies will be more useful. Input length, voice access and memory controls are separate features.
Does Candy.ai give five messages every day?
Its published free allowance is five chat messages across characters, one created character and one image. It does not mention daily renewal. Treat it as a small sample and don't assume a daily reset the offer doesn't describe.
Is there a no-signup option?
Perchance AI Chat advertises free unlimited messaging with no registration or card. Because chat history lives in the browser, it works differently from a cloud account: clearing site data can remove the conversation, and exported files or shared links make copies outside the original chat view.
Does unlimited chat mean every feature is unlimited?
No. CrushOn AI separates unlimited free-model chat from 100 monthly Pro credits and 20 daily Inspiration Replies. Character.AI pairs its unlimited-message claim with 15 free memory pins and a possible waiting room. A generous chat allowance doesn't remove limits on other features.
Can a free voice allowance be treated as a monthly budget?
Only if the reset interval is stated. HakkoAI lists 30 voice minutes and five playbacks but gives no daily or monthly renewal period in the offer we checked. Those figures describe a sample, not a recurring monthly voice allowance.
Is a free plan the same as a paid trial?
Nomi describes an indefinite free plan with no card required. That is different from signing up for a subscription that renews after a promotional period. The free quota stays at 50 messages per day, and paid features, cancellation and billing belong to the separate subscription.
Why are some prices shown in US dollars on a Canadian page?
CrushOn AI's published US$5.99 monthly Standard offer is a US-dollar price, not CA$5.99. The actual purchase screen shows local currency, payment-provider conversion and GST/HST. This page does not turn an unclear dollar sign or a converted estimate into a Canadian offer.
Can a free comparison establish the most realistic companion?
A message quota can't measure that. Nomi's 400-character free input limit and Character.AI's 15 free memory pins are concrete capabilities, but neither shows realism, accuracy or consistent recall. That is why this comparison describes allowances and controls and does not give an untested quality score.
